Overdose Prevention and Response emphasizes engaging directly with people who use drugs to promote health and wellness.
Goals of overdose response and education in Maryland:
- Ensure that people who use drugs have access to compassionate, quality care that is free from stigma
- Provide person-centered, comprehensive, and community-based services
- Make sure that trauma, criminal or legal involvement, and racism do not determine one's health outcomes or quality of life
Sign up for overdose alerts. Please complete the overdose alert form if you would like to receive overdose/poisoning spike notification via email and/or text. The health department sends notification when there are four or more overdoses within a 24 hour period.
Rapid Analysis of Drugs (RAD) is a statewide drug checking program available to Maryland Opioid–Associated Disease Prevention and Outreach Program (OADPOP) participants.
