The Carroll County Health Department's Rabies Control program helps prevent rabies infections in people and control the spread of rabies in animals. Rabies Control staff:
- Follow up on animal bites and scratches
- Work with Animal Control
- Manage pet quarantines
- Send samples to the lab for rabies testing
- Offer low-cost rabies vaccination clinics for pets. Our next clinic will be in Spring, 2026 at the Ag Center in Westminster.
To report an animal bite that occured in Carroll County, Maryland:
- Call the Carroll County Health Department at 410-876-1884 or 1-800-966-3877 during business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm).
- Evenings and weekends, call Carroll County Animal Control 410-848-4810 or the Carroll County Emergency Communications Center at 410-386-2260.
- In case of an emergency, dial 911.
