The Advisory Committee is instrumental in developing regulations to enhance the practice of Direct-Entry Midwives across Maryland and in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
The consumer perspective is crucial to the Committee's effectiveness, offering public insight and contributing to the optimal well-being of both mother and baby through safe practices.

UPDATE on English Language Proficiency Requirements: New Law: Effective October 1, 2025. In accordance with
Senate Bill 72 / Chapter 732, an applicant may not be required to provide additional evidence of english proficiency if the applicant holds a valid, unrestricted license, certification, or registration from another state that requires evidence of english proficiency for licensure, certification, or registration.

Certified Dialysis Technicians (CDT): The Maryland Board of Nursing, in accordance with House Bill 218 of the 2022 General Assembly session, has amended its regulations to create a separate certification for Certified Dialysis Technicians (CDTs).
These amendments will impact current CNA-DTs and will establish a new CDT initial and renewal application process, among other changes.
