The Board of Nursing is looking to fill positions for the Certification Advisory Committee. A brief summary of the committee is listed below:
The Certification Advisory Committee consists of 17 members appointed by the Board. The Committee assists the Board by meeting once a month for approximately 3-6 hours to perform the following activities:
- Evaluate certification training programs and make recommendations for approval by the Board;
- Develop and recommend regulations governing certified nursing assistants (“CNA”), dialysis technicians (“CDT”), and medication technicians (‘MT”).
- Evaluate CNA/CMT/CDT candidates as required and recommend action to the Board; and
- Review investigations of complaints against CNAs, CDTs, or CMTs and make recommendations to the Board of disciplinary action.
Committee Members are entitled to receive compensation as determined by the Board and reimbursement for expenses under the Standard State Travel Regulations, as provided in the State Budget.
The Board is accepting applications for the following positions on the Committee:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Union Member
- CNA-Long term care
- CNA-Adult Medical Daycare
- CNA Acute Care
- CNA-Independent Contractor (Alternate position - attends meeting if primary CNA member is unable to discharge the duties of the Committee)
- CNA-Union Member (Alternate position)
- CNA - Acute Care (Alternate position)
- CNA - Long - Term Care (Alternate position)
- CNA- Home Care
- Certified Dialysis Technician (CDT)
- Consumer Member (who has received care, or has a family member who has received care from a CNA)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Long- Term Care
- MDH Representative
- RN Dialysis Facility
- RN Acute Care
- Administrator of a Licensed Health Care Facility
In order to be considered for appointment to one of these positions, you must:

Be a U.S. Citizen;

Be a Maryland resident;

Have practiced in your health occupation for at least 5 years immediately preceding the member’s appointment; and

Be current with certification/license in good standing.
Appointed members may serve two consecutive 4-year terms.
