UPDATE on English Language Proficiency Requirements: New Law: Effective October 1, 2025. In accordance with
Senate Bill 72 / Chapter 732, an applicant may not be required to provide additional evidence of english proficiency if the applicant holds a valid, unrestricted license, certification, or registration from another state that requires evidence of english proficiency for licensure, certification, or registration.

Certified Dialysis Technicians (CDT): The Maryland Board of Nursing, in accordance with House Bill 218 of the 2022 General Assembly session, has amended its regulations to create a separate certification for Certified Dialysis Technicians (CDTs).
These amendments will impact current CNA-DTs and will establish a new CDT initial and renewal application process, among other changes.
The Board of Nursing is warning our constituents to be aware of a phishing scam currently in circulation
The scam sends an email, USPS mailed letter or a phone call claiming the victim is under investigation for laundering money and dealing drugs.

Maryland Board of Nursing Vacancy Announcement - Nominations Requested: In accordance with the Annotated Code of Maryland, Health Occupations Article, §8-202(b)(5), the Board is providing notice to the public that all 14 Board member seats are now open for appointment. Please use the following link, Board Member Vacancy Announcement, for information regarding appointment criteria and application instructions.
Effective immediately, the Maryland Board of Nursing will only accept official transcripts that are either mailed directly from a Nursing School/Program to the Board or emailed directly from a Nursing School/Program to the appropriate department at the Board:
The Board will no longer accept transcripts directly from individuals.
