​The Health Occupations Title 19 Social Work Practice Act exists because the MD General Assembly finds that the profession of Social Work profoundly affects the lives, health, safety, and welfare of the people of this state. 

The Licensing Renewal Portal Opens 7/15/2026

Do I have to renew my license in 2026?

  • If you are not sure, go to License Verificat​ion Page
  • Put in your license #  - find your original license year and due date for renewal
  • Social Work licenses are renewed every two years on a odd/even cycle​​​

Are there any new requirements for renewal?

  • Yes, all health occupations license holders must attest to a one-time only completion of a Structural Racism course
  • This is new addition to the prior Implicit Bias requirement per​​ HB 782

  • When you complete your online renewal application, you will check the box at the end of the application to attest to the one-time completion of the one-time only Structural Racism and Implicit Bias

​​How many CEUs do I need?

  • 40 total credits for LMSW, LCSW, or LCSW-C
  • 30 total credits for LBSW
