Vaccines: General Information

Vaccinations are the best protection against severe illness and preventable disease for you, your family, and your community. They are safe and effective and can help infants and young children strengthen their immune system. For people of all ages, particularly older adults and those with underlying health conditions, vaccines can lessen or prevent illnesses which can be dangerous.

Adults can order immunization records for themselves or their children through Maryland MyIR Mobile. MyIR™ stands for My Immunization Record, a public portal that can securely pull vaccination records from ImmuNet, Maryland's Immunization Information System (IIS). All users must be 18 years or older. Once registered with MyIR Mobile, adults will be able to obtain official vaccination records for daycare, camps, schools, employment or travel, if they or their children were vaccinated in the State of Maryland.

The Maryland Vaccine Program is a state-funded vaccine program designed to expand access to critical immunizations for all eligible Maryland residents. The program complements the existing federally-funded Vaccines for Children program. This program will provide recommended vaccines free of charge to Maryland adults who do not have health insurance  (uninsured) or whose insurance doesn't fully cover the cost of service (underinsured), minimizing out-of-pocket costs as a barrier to vaccine access. Marylanders should contact their local health department for more information on which vaccines will be available and when they will be in supply.

Residents can also search for vaccine clinics near them using the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS) for Maryland. The system allows you to be pre-screened and, if qualified, schedule routine vaccinations, including COVID-19 and flu, with your local health department. Click here to search for vaccination clinics near you. Note: Not all Maryland local health departments use VAMS, so not all vaccine clinics happening will be listed.

Whether you're seeking a vaccine for children or adults, check with the local health department to ensure they have the vaccines you need. Below is immunization information for the local health departments in Maryland.
