ImmuNet is Maryland’s Immunization Information System (IIS) - a confidential, secure, and HIPAA-compliant database that stores vaccination records for individuals across the state.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), IIS are designed to “help providers, families, and public health officials by consolidating immunization information into one reliable source. The information can then be used to guide patient care, improve vaccination rates, and ultimately reduce vaccine-preventable disease." View the CDC's ‘Basics of IIS’ infographic.
ImmuNet supports healthcare providers, schools, and public health programs by offering a centralized, web-based tool to:
- Track immunizations across different providers
- Ensure patients and students are vaccinated on schedule
- Prevent under- or over-vaccination
By streamlining access to immunization records, ImmuNet plays a vital role in protecting public health throughout Maryland.
CDC IIS Functional Standards describe the operations, data quality and technology needed by IISs, and can be validated by one of CDC partners, the American Immunization Registry Association (AIRA). ImmuNet participates in this validation process. To learn more, click the image to the left.
