Promissor, Inc. has developed a new Fax Scoring Process for the nursing assistant certification-testing program. MDGNATS began its implementation on January 1, 2004. Fax back scoring allows the candidate's written (or oral) and skills portions of the examination to be sent electronically to a computer processing system for scoring. The fax scoring process allows results to be more quickly reported to the Board of Nursing thus facilitating the placement of newly certified nursing assistants on the registry, usually within 48 hours after testing. The computerized processing system can respond within minutes via return fax with the scored examination results.
In the majority of tests, the candidates will receive their score reports on the same day they take the examination. If the candidate is unable to receive their results on the same day as a result of technology problems, they will be mailed out to candidates within 5-7 business days after Promissor receives them.
When the Board has received the official testing results that a candidate has passed both the written (or oral) and skills components of the test directly from Promissor, the Board's database shall be updated with the additional status of GNA. A new CNA certificate shall not be issued to the candidate. However, when the candidate renews the CNA certificate the additional status of GNA will appear on the renewal. The candidate can utilize the Board's web page (
www.mbon.org/lic_lookup.html) to verify the CNA or GNA status.
