Nicotine is a highly addictive substance found in tobacco products and almost all electronic vaping products. The Tobacco Cessation Program provides
free nicotine replacement therapies (patches and lozenges) and coaching/support to adult residents of Allegany County. To participate in the program, you must have a referral from a healthcare provider approving use of nicotine replacement therapy products. Adolescents wishing to quit nicotine receive education and encouragement from our cessation coach (quit coach).
A quit coach will help with...
- setting a quit date
- managing cravings, triggers, and coping skills
- proper use of nicotine replacement therapy such as the patch and gum
- sustaining motivation through the quit process
