Naloxone (the generic name for ​​​Narcan®) is a life-saving medication ​that can quickly restore the breathing of a person experiencing an opioid overdose. O​​pioids are a group of drugs that include heroin and prescription medications like oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, fentanyl, and methadone.​
