F. The Board shall award 1 hour of continuing education for each month a preceptor serves as an instructor in an AIT program, up to a maximum of 12 credit hours per renewal cycle.

Program Approval

All Nursing Home Administrators must take continuing education programs approved by the National Association of Nursing Home Administrator Boards (NAB). The Maryland Board accepts all programs approved by NAB, and the program's certificate of attendance must contain the NAB approval number. The Board will no longer accept programs approved by another state's Board of Long Term Care Administrators. Effective March 19, 2012, no continuing education hours can be carried over from the previous renewal period.

It is the licensee's responsibility to make sure that all continuing education programs completed for license renewal are NAB approved. The Board suggests that you confirm with sponsors that programs you are interested in attending have been approved by NAB. If you have any doubts about the approval status of the programs, please contact NAB at (202) 712-9040, or visit their website at
