OP&R's Preparedness Surveillance & Epidemiology Team (PSET) conducts year-round surveillance on disease, weather-related illness and deaths across Maryland. This data is developed by our epidemiologists using the Maryland Department of Health's syndromic surveillance system, the Electronic Surveillance System for the Early Notification of Community-based Epidemics (ESSENCE).
