The Office of Preparedness and Response develops regular reports with information about disease, weather-related illness, or deaths across Maryland. These reports are largely developed by our epidemiologists using the Maryland Department of Health's syndromic surveillance system, the Electronic Surveillance System for the Early Notification of Community-based Epidemics (ESSENCE).
