RHTP Application and Timeline
CMS posted a Notice of Funding Opportunity for states to apply for the RHTP on September 15, 2025.
To gather feedback to inform the proposal, the Department:
Released a Request for Information (RFI) invitation on September 9, 2025. The RFI closed on September 30 and the Department received over 325 responses.
Held an introductory public webinar on September 15, 2025. Slides are available here.
Collaborated with local health departments to organize 17 local listening sessions held in-person and virtually throughout rural Maryland. More than 250 people participated.
Presented a summary of feedback and an outline of our draft Rural Health Transformation Plan. Slides are available here.
Submitted an application to CMS by the deadline posted. Maryland submitted program narrative is program narrative is available here.
Received a notive of award from CMS for RHTP Budget Year 1 for $168,180.61 as noted here, on December 29, 2025.
Submitted required modified budget justification documentation in January 2026 and had funds unrestricted for use by CMS on February 25, 2026
