MCHB’s mission is to reduce health inequities and improve the health and wellbeing of all individuals, families, and communities in Maryland.

Vision
All individuals and families are valued, safe, and informed, with equitable access to resources and servicesInitiatives within the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) are integrated through a coordinated life course approach. MCHB uses the following strategies to carry out our mission:
- Build strong partnerships at the local, state, and national levels to coordinate systems of care and improve access to and delivery of health services.
- Fund and administer programs and initiatives to address disparities and improve family health outcomes
- Empower and educate individuals of reproductive age so they may achieve their reproductive health goals and maintain optimal health
- Collect, analyze, and monitor data to make informed decisions about public health interventions and priorities.
