The Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) Case Registry builds upon child death review programs and uses the National Center for Fatality Review and Prevention’s Case Reporting System to bring together information about the circumstances associated with and investigations into SUID and SDY cases.
As a grantee, the Maryland team works to conduct the following activities:
- Monitor SUID trends and characteristics that may affect the risk of SUID, such as infant sleep position.
- Monitor SUID rates to identify new risk factors and track progress toward reducing SUID.
- Improve the quality and consistency of SUID investigation data.
