Renew Your Medicaid Coverage and Report Changes

Learn how to renew your Medicaid coverage, update your contact information, report changes and what to do if you are no longer eligible for Medicaid.

Renewing Your Coverage

Your Medicaid coverage is subject to renewal every 12 months. When you renew, also known as reapplying, redetermination, or recertification, Medicaid checks your income to be sure you are still eligible. Certain Medicaid programs check your assets too.

  • We will contact you when it is time for you to renew. You will get a notice in the mail or in your online account if you are paperless. You will have 60 days to respond. Renew by the deadline so you do not lose your coverage.
  • Most people will renew through Maryland Health Connection. You will renew through the Department of Human Services if you are aged 65+, blind or disabled or are in a Home and Community-Based Service program.
  • We may be able to auto renew your Medicaid coverage. You will get a notice to let you know if we do. There is no paperwork for you to fill out and send in when we auto renew you. This is because we were able to verify your eligibility using other sources.

Always Keep Your Contact Information Up to Date

A lot can change in a year, like your contact information. Update a change of address, phone number or email right away so you keep getting important information about your Medicaid coverage.
