The Maryland Community Health Resources Commission (CHRC) is a quasi-independent commission operating within the Maryland Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DHMH), whose members are appointed by the Governor. The CHRC was created by the Maryland General Assembly in 2005 to expand access to health care in underserved communities in the state and address service delivery gaps in our dynamic health care marketplace.

Over the last six years, the CHRC has issued eight Call for Proposals and awarded 110 grants, totaling $26.1 million. These grants have expanded access in all 24 jurisdictions of the state and collectively provided health care services to more than 100,000 low-income Marylanders.
