Helpful Hints to Complete Your On-line Renewal

License/Certification Numbers
  • A RN license number starts with the letter R  and is followed by  six (6) digits.
  • A LPN license number starts with the letters LP  (or sometimes L0) and is followed by  five (5) digits.
  • A Nursing Assistant certification number starts with the letter A and is followed by eight (8) digits.
  • Do not confuse the number zero with the letter 'O'!  None of the license/certification types use the letter 'O'.  Always use the number zero!
  • There are no spaces anywhere in a license/certification number. It should always be entered as consecutive characters.

Social Security Number (SSN)

If you do not have a SSN on file with the Board, you cannot use Online Renewal. It's used to verify your identity. You will not be able to use the service until we receive your SSN for our records. You can still verify your license status with  Look Up a Licensee using your name and or license/certification number.

Last Names & Titles
  • If you have a generational title in your name (Jr, Sr, III), you should try adding the title to your last name during login.  Example: Your name is John R. Doe, Jr. In the login field for Last Name, you would enter "DOE JR".
  • If you have a hyphenated last name (i.e. Jane R. Wilson-Jones), you may need to enter both last names without the hyphen (WILSON JONES), or with the hyphen (WILSON-JONES).
  • If all else fails, refer to the license/certification card you currently possess. Use it as a guide for entering your last name - it's the same data we used to create your login.

Graduation Date

Please pay extra attention to the date of graduation. Make sure you enter a 4-digit year. (i.e. 1995 instead of 95)

Erasing Selections in Drop-down Boxes

Some questions require you to select an answer from a drop-down box containing a list of possible answers. Often, some questions will already be answered based on your answers from your previous license renewal. If you need to erase an answer in a drop-down box, scroll to the top entry in the drop down box and click on [Select One]. Clicking  [Select One] causes the system to process the question as "not answered" or "erased".

Credit Cards

We accept MasterCard and Visa credit or debit cards only. Other card companies (American Express, Discover, etc.) will not be accepted!  Enter your credit card as sixteen consecutive digits. There should be no spaces or any punctuation between any numbers.
