Maryland Board of Nursing Letterhead

Important Update for Applicants

Beginning July 15, 2026, as part of the transition to the Maryland Department of Health Centralized Health Accreditation and Registration Tool (MDH CHART), the new licensing system, the Maryland Board of Nursing will no longer accept paper applications.*

What does this mean for me?
If you are currently working on your paper application for any of the professional
licenses/certifications regulated by the Board of Nursing, you must have it postmarked no later than July 15, 2026.

What can I do instead?
You can make use of our new CHART Online Application system and submit your application, check the status, or look up your license all in one convenient location.

What happens if my paper application is received AFTER July 15, 2026?
Any applications received after July 15, 2026 will be returned to sender, if you include a check or money order, it will NOT be deposited, and you can retrieve it from the envelope.

What if I have questions?
You can visit our website and check out our consistently updated News and FAQ pages, or you can give us a call at 410 585 1900, or send an email to [email protected].

Exceptions

applications until further notice.
