In order to obtain a Compact Privilege in the State of Maryland you MUST take and pass the Jurisprudence Exam prior to the privilege being granted. The Jurisprudence Exam is a 35-question on-line test covering the Maryland Practice Act. A passing score is a minimum of 90%.

The test is an open book exam and a current version of the Maryland Practice Act can be found on-line. Once you pass the exam you must print and email your certificate of completion to mdh.bpteadmin@maryland.gov

To register for the Maryland Jurisprudence Exam please follow these steps.


Once you have passed the Maryland Jurisprudence Exam and emailed your certificate of completion to the Board you may go to the PT Compact website to apply for and purchase a Maryland Compact Privilege. Click for a short video on the PT Compact and how to apply for it.

Attention: Dry Needlers

If you purchase a Maryland PT Compact privilege and wish to dry needle in the State of Maryland you must be registered with the Board. In Order to register in the State of Maryland you must meet the requirements found in the Maryland Practice Act and submit a dry needling application​. Once the Board reviews and accepts your application you will be notified by email that you are registered. Until you receive that notification you can not dry needle.
