​Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor


48 semester credits (72 quarter credits) Masters degree or higher in a Human Services counseling field from a regionally accredited college or university.

27 semester credits (41quarter credits) of alcohol and drug coursework).

Required courses:
3 sem cr (5 qtr cr)  must be in the areas below:

  • Medical aspects of chemical dependency (Pharmacology)
  • Addictions Treatment Delivery
  • Ethics that includes alcohol and drug counseling issues.
  • Group counseling
  • Individual counseling 
  • Abnormal Psychology
AND any 3  of the following 3 semester credit (5 quarter credit) courses from the areas below
  • Family counseling
  • Theories of Counseling 
  • Human Development 
  • Topics in substance related and addictive disorder​​
  • Treatment of co-occurring disorders

No internship credits required for this level.
