INITIAL AND REINSTATEMENT APPLICATION​

APPLY FOR
TO BE A CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR
OR FOR A ​CHILD AND YOUTH CARE PRACTITIONER LICENSE
​ IN MARYLAND

​Applying for licensure to be a program administrator or child and youthcare practitioner requires an applicant to submit an application through the online application system, and upload the required documentation through our application portal. The Board will review the application and corresponding documentation to access that the applicant has met the requirements in accordance with the Annotated Code of Maryland Health Occupations Article Title 20 and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 10.57.01 for Certification of Residential Child Care Program Professionals under “Board Laws and Regulations”​

STEP 2: Complete application online and submit payment.

The application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, COMAR 10.57.02.02

Applicants are required by law to be certified within 180 days from their hire date. That means applications not completed within 180 days will be automatically closed. ​Applicants may reapply to restart the process.


STEP 3: Submit Required Documents

​Review, complete, and submit the required documents via our Document Upload Portal.
The required documents marked at "Original Requested" need to be mailed to the Board address at:

Only Copies accepted via our upload portal.


STEP 4: Institute Profile & Modules

  • Every applicant must create a profile at the Institute’s website: https://theinstitute.umaryland.edu/
  • The training modules are mandatory UNLESS the applicant has earned a college degree.


STEP 5: Successfully Complete the Board Exam

The Board will complete a review of your application and the required documents. Once your application is complete, you will be eligible to take the Board Exam.
Agencies that have been approved by the Board, may proctor the exam on their campus.
Exams are held at the Board’s office on specific dates.
