Phone Scam
The Division of Vital Records warns consumers of a phone scam targeting customers who have misdialed our phone number when ordering vital records. The Division of Vital Records will never ask for your Social Security number or credit card PIN when processing requests for copies of vital records. Double check the number when dialing. Phishing Scams
The Vital Statistics Administration (VSA) Division of Vital Records (DVR), which is a part of the Maryland Department of Health, is aware of phishing scams related to official vital records, including death certificates. The VSA does not upload official vital records to any external accounts, and will only issue vital records upon request once entitlement is verified.
