How the Quitline Works
Call 1: Enrollment
Your enrollment in the program begins with your first call to the quitline and covers two important steps:
Step 1: Preparing to quit with confidence
A coach will ask about your smoking history and discuss with you your readiness to quit.
Step 2: Personalizing your quit plan
Together, you and your coach will determine a realistic target quit date and prepare a personalized quit plan, deciding on what techniques and treatments may be right for you.
Calls 2-4: Progress
Your program is designed specifically for your situation, habits, and needs. On these intermediate calls, a coach will help you assess how your quit process is going and how you can deal with barriers and challenges. You will work through the following milestone steps surrounding your quit date:
Step 3: Building up mini quits
Step 4: Conquering your cravings
Step 5: Embracing a healthier lifestyle
Note: If you enroll in the Behavioral Health or Pregnancy programs, there are two additional calls that will help support you during these steps.
Final Call: Success
Step 6: Staying tobacco-free
Upon program completion, your coach will review and celebrate your progress. He or she will also provide encouragement and a long-term plan to help you live tobacco free.
