Rural Health Clinics

Description

A rural health clinic (RHC) is a clinic that is located in a rural area designated as a shortage area, is not a rehabilitation agency or a facility primarily for the care and treatment of mental diseases, and meets all other requirements of 42 CFR 405 and 491.

OHCQ is responsible for the oversight and surveying of rural health clinics.

Licensure

State license is not required for rural health clinics.

To obtain certification through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, visit CMS.gov.  On behalf of CMS, OHCQ investigates complaints related to rural health clinics.
