Portable X-Ray Providers

Description

A portable x-ray provider is an entity that moves its portable x-ray equipment that is separate from and unattached to the vehicle or to a fixed location, such as a physician’s office or nursing home.  The provider is an individual, association, partnership, corporation, unincorporated group, or any other person authorized, licensed, or certified to provide services for program recipients and who, through appropriate agreement with the department, has been identified as a program provider by the issuance of an individual account number.  The portable x-ray provider shall be certified and registered by the Department of Environment in accordance with COMAR 26.12.01—.03.

OHCQ is not responsible for licensing portable x-ray providers, but does perform certification surveys.

Certification

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) certifies portable x-ray providers.  CMS refers all quality assurance complaints to OHCQ for investigation.  To apply to be certified, visit CMS.gov.  and complete and submit the certification form to be considered as a portable x-ray provider. ​
