Additional Relevant information
The number of licensees has doubled in the last ten years due to changes in 2007 Board law as well as changes to Medicaid billing rules in CY 2009 which forced exempt licensees to obtain a license as a condition of employment to remain employed in the public school system. Legislation changes in 2015 required the use of criminal history background checks which has lengthened the process for licensing. The most recent changes to the professional landscape of the Board are licensing both Audiology Assistants and Music Therapist (effective 10/1/2021) and the Board's membership to the Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact.
