Notice of Proposed Action
The Secretary of Health proposes to adopt new Regulation
COMAR 10.32.02 Hearings Before the Board of Physicians
. This action was considered at a public hearing held on April 26, 2017, notice of which was provided by posting on the Board’s website, http://www.mbp.state.us.forms/mar17FULLagenda.pdf, from April 12, 2017—April 26, 2017, General Provisions Article, §3-302(c), Annotated Code of Maryland.
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of this action is to add opioid prescribing guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a consideration for the Board and disciplinary panel hearings.

There is no corresponding federal standard to this proposed action.

The proposed action has no economic impact.

The Board and the disciplinary panels may consider the “Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain” published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but this guideline is not binding on the Board or the disciplinary panels.
