Each jurisdiction in Maryland is represented by a Local Health Improvement Coalition (LHIC). These grassroots organizations are public-private partnerships working on health challenges in their jurisdiction. Members can come from any part of the community or organization that would like to work to improve the community's health... generally, representatives from the school system, hospital, local health department, county/city offices, nonprofits, and private companies. Maryland has 20 in all with the Mid Shore combining resources for one coalition.
