The Commission to Study the Health Care Workforce Crisis in Maryland (the “Health Care Workforce Commission”) was authorized as an emergency measure in May 2022 (Chapter 780, Acts of 2022).  The Health Care Workforce Commission consists of 24 members who represent elected officials, state and federal government officials, health occupations boards directors, and officials from institutions of higher education. Advisory groups formed under the Commission may include stakeholders, consumers, and health care professionals.

The purpose of the Commission is to examine certain areas related to health care workforce shortages in the State, including the extent of the workforce shortage, short-term solutions to the workforce shortage, future health care workforce needs, and the relationship between the Maryland Department of Health and the health occupations boards.
