Visitation Policy
Eastern Shore Hospital Center Visitation Guidelines
General Visiting Hours:
Weekdays: 3:30 PM -- 8:00 PM and Weekends/Holidays: 2:00 PM -- 8:00 PM
All children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. Children under the age of 6
may visit if prior arrangements have been made through a Social Worker
or unit Charge Nurse. They must be under constant adult supervision and
remain in the designated visiting area.
Visitors may visit with patients in the designated unit visiting room or another area as directed by staff.
ESHC is a smoke-free facility. Visitors
shall not smoke or carry lit tobacco products anywhere in the facility
or on the grounds. Visitors are also prohibited from supplying cigarettes or other tobacco products, matches, or lighters to patients.
Patients
should not receive visitors during Treatment Mall Program hours (9:30
a.m. - 3:15 p.m.). If it is necessary to visit during these hours,
please arrange this ahead of time with the Social Worker or Nursing
Staff.
Patients
who are acutely ill or have court ordered visiting limitations may be
unable to receive visitors. It is always best to call in advance if you
are unsure of a patient’s status.
Visits should, ideally, be no more than two hours.
For
safety purposes, there are restrictions on the types of items which may
be brought into patients. All items brought to a patient must be
checked by nursing staff prior to be being given to a patient.
