MPX: Maryland's Response

On June 16, 2022, the MDH state public health laboratory identified the first presumptive human monkeypox (MPX) virus infection in a Maryland resident. In response, MDH began a coordinated response with state, federal, and local government partners, faith-based and community-based organizations, and advocates in impacted communities, to identify, test, treat, and prevent MPX virus infection and provide access to resources for high-risk populations.

MPX: How You Can Help

With support from all partners, MDH can raise awareness about MPX and get information to people at high risk for infection and severe illness. The MDH MPX webpage provides fact sheets, videos, FAQs, clinician information, and an outreach toolkit with shareable social media assets and fact sheets. Please share these resources and information widely through your community and organizational networks.
