The Importance of Official Documentation and its Role in the Application Process

The mission of the Board is to protect the Maryland public through the credentialing (licensure and/or certification) and regulation of practitioners and specialists that fall under its scope. To ensure that only qualified individuals are permitted to practice acupuncture and East Asian Medicine, Auricular Detoxification, and Animal Acupuncture in Maryland, the Board reviews the official credentials/documentation of all applicants to ensure they meet the requirements as outlined in Section 1A-302, Section 1A-316, or Regulation 10.26.02.06 respectively.

These documents include official transcripts from accredited educational institutions, official exam/certification letter from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and/or foreign education documents evaluated by an International Education Evaluation Service.
