What is the Cancer Screening Learning Collaborative?
The Maryland Cancer Screening Learning Collaborative (CSLC) is a cancer screening advocacy workgroup of the Maryland Cancer Collaborative, a state wide coalition of volunteers charged with implementing the Maryland Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan. The mission of the CSLC is to partner with community-based organizations, health systems, health professionals, cancer survivors and individuals who are interested in improving cancer screening rates in Maryland. The goal is to build upon statewide cancer screening initiatives, assist with identifying cancer screening resources to improve Marylander's awareness and increase participation in cancer screening statewide. This group also aims to increase awareness of local resources and stakeholder organizations and provide an opportunity for peer-to-peer learning.
Who
should join?
The CSLC welcomes interested individuals who have experience or an
interest in cancer screening and education, cancer outreach, cancer care, and community
and population health. The workgroup is looking for participation from
community stakeholders such as: health educators, community outreach
professionals, patient navigators, community health leaders, community health
nurses, cancer survivors, medical professionals, and medical office personnel.
The CSLC seeks to collaborate with community-based programs that assist special
and ethnic populations in working to increase cancer screenings in these
populations throughout the state.
CSLC Priorities:- Partnering with Commission on Cancer (COC) accredited facilities for cancer prevention and screening efforts
- Exploring solutions for gastroenterology provider shortages in certain areas of Maryland
- Partnering with the regional offices of the American Cancer Society to support healthcare providers, healthcare organizations and inform the public about national cancer screening guidelines to save lives by improving cancer screenings statewide
- Exchanging cancer screening resources and information within an online repository platform
- Evolve and grow the CSLC based on group interest and feedback
