Maryland Department of Health highlights success stories to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Baltimore, MD – Governor Wes Moore has proclaimed March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Maryland, recognizing the unlimited potential of Marylanders with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To celebrate, the Developmental Disabilities Administration highlights success stories shared by family members and providers who support people in achieving their chosen life goals. These stories are showcased in the Special Edition DDA Connection Newsletter.

“This month and throughout the year, we aim to foster awareness, inclusivity and appreciation for the potential of every person by sharing these inspiring stories, personal milestones and impactful initiatives,” said Developmental Disabilities Administration Deputy Secretary Marlana R. Hutchinson. “We feature organizations, advocates, and others in our community who make a difference, demonstrating that everyone can thrive with proper support and opportunities.”

National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is observed every March to promote understanding, inclusion and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities.
