Maryland Department of Health launches social media campaign to celebrate National Preparedness Month

Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Department of Health is celebrating National Preparedness Month by launching a social media campaign to raise awareness among Maryland families, businesses and communities about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies.

“National Preparedness Month, held every September, is a great way to educate and empower Marylanders to prepare for and respond to any emergency that could affect our families,” said Deputy Secretary for Public Health Services Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman. “The Maryland Department of Health coordinates with local, state, regional, and federal partners all year long to prepare the state’s public health and medical response to and recovery from emergencies. This includes infectious disease outbreaks, natural disasters and anything else that could affect the health and safety of Marylanders.”

Throughout the month, the Maryland Department of Health will be sharing preparedness information, resources, and tips to assist Marylanders in getting ready for disasters and emergencies. The campaign will take place across the Department’s X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube accounts, as well as the Maryland Department of Health Office of Preparedness and Response’s X and Facebook.
