Maryland Department of Health, Garrett County Health Department partner to distribute free face masks at COVID-19 testing sites through #MasksOnMaryland campaign

Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) announced today that it has partnered with the Garrett County Health Department to distribute free face masks at COVID-19 testing sites throughout Garrett County as part of the #MasksOnMaryland campaign. The masks will be available at testing sites at 46 Business Park Dr. in Accident, MD and the Garrett County Health Department office in Oakland, MD during regular testing hours while supplies last.

“Mask-wearing and testing remain two of the most important tools that we have to help end the pandemic,” said Acting MDH Secretary Dennis R. Schrader. “As we begin the early stages of our vaccination program, we need to keep in mind that masks and testing both will continue to be essential activities in the months to come. We ask Marylanders to keep wearing masks and keep getting tested while we all work together to end COVID.”

Free COVID-19 testing is now available five days a week in the greater Garrett County area. In addition to the sites listed above, testing is available at several other locations, including the Allegany County Fairgrounds. For detailed information on all of the COVID-19 testing options available in the region, visit GarrettHealth.org.

MDH and its local partners have hosted #MasksOnMaryland distribution events across the state since July of this year. Over 60,000 free masks have been provided to Marylanders through these events. Local jurisdictions are encouraged to continue promoting the use of masks by hosting campaign events of their own.
