Proclamation from the Governor of the State of Maryland
DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS, Disability Employment Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of workers with disabilities and create greater awareness of the talents and skills individuals with disabilities bring to employers; and
WHEREAS, The State of Maryland is dedicated to upholding the principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act, particularly as it relates to the rights and freedom of people with disabilities to work and advance in their chosen careers; andWHEREAS, The State of Maryland is an “Employment First” state that strives to expand employment opportunities for Marylanders with disabilities; andWHEREAS, As a “Model Employer,” the State of Maryland—through the work of the Office of Disability Employment Advancement and Policy—will continue its commitment to the principle that business thrives when it invests in workers, including those with disabilities. NOW, THEREFORE, I, WES MOORE, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND, do hereby proclaim OCTOBER 2025 as DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH in Maryland, and do commend this observation to all of our citizens.
