WHEREAS, Vaccine-preventable illnesses such as measles and whooping cough are still out there and pose a potential health risk for Marylanders of all ages; and

WHEREAS, Immunization is a critical element of essential healthcare and an undeniable human right which should be accessible to everyone; and

WHEREAS, Vaccinations play a vital role in safeguarding both individuals and the wider community against severe illnesses, extending benefits even to those unable to receive them; and

WHEREAS, It is important that all Marylanders stay up to date with their recommended vaccinations to build their immune system and keep disease from spreading in our communities; and

WHEREAS, National Immunization Awareness Month is a nationally recognized annual observance that highlights the importance of immunizations for people of all ages.

​NOW, THEREFORE, I, WES MOORE, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND, do hereby proclaim August 2025 as IMMUNIZATION AWARENESS MONTH in Maryland and do commend this observance to all of our citizens.
