Immunization Awareness Month
August 2026
WHEREAS, Immunization is a critical element of essential healthcare and an undeniable human right which should be accessible to everyone; and
WHEREAS, Vaccinations play a vital role in safeguarding both individuals and the wider community against severe illnesses, extending benefits even to those unable to receive them; and
WHEREAS, The Maryland Department of Health is working closely with local health departments and community partners to provide vaccine access to all Marylanders through programs like the Maryland Vaccine Program for uninsured and underinsured adults; and
WHEREAS, Maryland vaccine recommendations will continue to be based in science and follow medical guidance as a result of the Vax Act to keep disease from spreading in our communities; and
WHEREAS, National Immunization Awareness Month is a nationally recognized annual observance that highlights the importance of immunizations for people of all ages, and the life-saving benefits of vaccines.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, WES MOORE, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND, do hereby proclaim August 2026 as IMMUNIZATION AWARENESS MONTH in Maryland, and do commend this observance to all of our citizens.
