Maryland and its nine managed care organizations are committed to helping eligible individuals stay covered and ensuring employers and employees have access to accurate information and resources.

What Employers Should Know

Upcoming Medicaid Changes

Beginning in January 2027, certain Medicaid members may need to meet new federal work and renewal requirements to maintain healthcare coverage. As these changes approach, some employees may have questions regarding work verification, documentation requirements or Medicaid eligibility processes. Employers can play an important role in helping employees access trusted information but are not expected to determine Medicaid eligibility.

A workforce that includes lower-wage, part-time or seasonal employees may be more likely to have workers enrolled in Medicaid.

What Employers Can Do Now

Although the policy changes will not take effect until 2027, employers can begin preparing now by raising awareness and directing employees to official information.
