The Maryland Healthy Smiles Dental Program (MHSDP) provides dental care to eligible Medicaid members. Medicaid covers a wide range of dental services. A benefits management company runs the program for Medicaid.
There are no premiums, deductibles, or copays for covered services. There is no maximum benefit amount each year. You should never pay for a covered service out of pocket.

Am I eligible for the Maryland Healthy Smiles Dental Program?
Everyone with full Medicaid coverage is eligible. You have full Medicaid coverage If you have a red and white Medicaid card.

Medicaid covers:

- Fluoride treatments
- Pulling teeth - extractions
- Regular checkups
- Root canals
- Teeth cleaning
- X-rays
Other Covered Services for Children Under 21 Years Old
- Fluoride varnish
- Orthodontics
- Sealants
Children may also be able to get fluoride varnish from their pediatrician or primary care provider through the
Maryland's Mouths Matter Program.
