Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy provide on-site evaluations and treatments to complex medically ill patients using functional outcome tools to develop an individualized treatment plan.
Our services focus on the patient's ability to function at their highest possible level of independence or to progress to the next level of care in the rehabilitation continuum.
Care is always patient-centered and provided to all programs within Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Our therapists have an assessment process that includes taking the individual's history, conducting a standardized systems review, and performing selected tests and measures and/or using questionnaires to identify potential and existing deficits in specific areas of daily functioning (cognitive, sensory, physical, and/or leisure). This guides the therapist in establishing the individual's personalized plan of care. Every patient served by the Rehabilitation Department will have an individualized plan of care based on their needs and goals derived from a formal assessment and evaluation.
Therapeutic Recreation:
Therapeutic Recreation (TR) facilitates a diverse wide range of enjoyable and purposeful activities in order to help patients and residents improve their physical, cognitive, emotional, social health, and increasing overall well-being. Activities range from various arts and crafts, sports, adaptive fitness, community outings, special events, musical programs, and much more. Individual personal resident preferences, ethnicity, cultural and religious factors are established by utilizing an Activity Assessment tool upon Admission. The Therapeutic Recreators then utilize the data obtained from the assessment to create person centered care plans and a person centered approach to provide various opportunities for the residents and patients to participate in programs held at the facility.
