Main Building Patient Hall - Spring Grove State Hospital
Although its not known exactly when this photograph was taken, it appears in the hospital's 1921 annual report. Of particular note is the wicker furniture. According to the hospital records, wicker chairs, settees and tables, along with the seat cushions, were manufactured for a number of years in the men's industrial shops at Spring Grove. The hall shown above would have been in the Main Building's south wing ("Female Department"). Doorways that led into the patient's bedrooms are seen along the left wall. Also note the tin ceilings, installed at the turn of the 20th century.
