​The Maryland Department of Health and the Maryland State Department of Education require that school children receive certain immunizations to begin the school year in accordance with state regulations and to reduce the  transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases in the school environment. A child may not be able to attend school until documentation of their immunizations has been received by the school.
