Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) Program

​The purpose of the THCGME Program is to support the training of residents in primary care residency training programs in community-based ambulatory patient care centers. These residency programs will prepare residents to provide high-quality care, particularly in rural and underserved communities, and develop competencies to serve these diverse populations and communities. These notices announce the opportunity to apply for funding under the THCGME Program. This funding will support both the direct expenses associated with sponsoring approved graduate medical residency training programs and indirect expenses associated with the additional costs relating to teaching residents in residency training programs.

​The Mentoring at Risk and Rural Youth (MARRY) program offers grants to Cooperative Extension agencies to expand opportunities for rural youth, juvenile justice-involved youth, and youth at risk of juvenile justice involvement by providing mentoring services through 4-H programming.

The mentoring services and curriculum must promote positive behaviors, attitudes, and outcomes for youth and reduces risk factors associated with delinquency and juvenile justice system involvement, such as poor school attendance, school failure, and alcohol and drug abuse.

Projects must involve mentees in 4-H activities and events, apart from the mentoring experience. For example, mentees will participate in and complete hands-on 4-H projects in areas such as health, science, agriculture, STEM, leadership, workforce development, mental health, community service, drama, computer literacy, reading literacy, or civic engagement. Mentees are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Projects are encouraged to implement the 4-H Thriving Model.

Changing Aging Grants​​

National School Lunch Afterschool Snack Program​

​The Afterschool Snack Program is a federally assisted snack program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. School districts and independent schools that choose to take part in the snack program receive cash subsidies from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for each snack they serve. Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) Payment Program

​The purpose of the Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) Payment Program is to compensate for the disparity in the level of federal graduate medical education (GME) funding for freestanding children’s teaching hospitals versus other types of teaching hospitals. Federal funding for GME is primarily provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and goes to full-service teaching hospitals that serve primarily adult patients. Freestanding children’s hospitals receive little to no GME funding from Medicare because children’s hospitals have a low Medicare caseload. The CHGME Payment Program is administered by the Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Washington Family Medicine OB Fellowship

​The Family Medicine Residency Spokane provides a fellowship in obstetrics and family medicine which includes 13 four-week rotations that offer the opportunity to learn management of high risk and operative obstetrics. The program is intended for family physicians seeking training in surgical obstetrics, care of high risk and complicated pregnancies, and management of the medical complications of pregnancy. Obstetric fellows will be prepared to serve in a rural, isolated, or underserved location, or to teach obstetrics in a family medicine residency program.

​This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Technology-enabled Collaborative Learning Program (TCLP). The purpose of this program is to improve retention of health care providers and increase access to health care services, such as those to address chronic diseases and conditions (including Alzheimer’s disease), infectious diseases, mental health and substance use disorders, prenatal and maternal health, pediatric care, pain management, palliative care, and other specialty care in rural areas, frontier areas, health professional shortage areas, or medically underserved areas and for medically underserved populations or Native Americans. Recipients will evaluate, develop, and, as appropriate, expand the use of technology-enabled collaborative learning and capacity building models. In this NOFO, the term "technology-enabled collaborative learning and capacity building model" means a distance health education model that connects health care professionals, and particularly specialists, with multiple other health care professionals through simultaneous interactive videoconferencing for the purpose of facilitating case-based learning, disseminating best practices, and evaluating outcomes. This cooperative agreement aligns with HRSA’s goals of promoting a health care workforce to address current and emerging needs, improving access to quality health services, achieving health equity, and enhancing population health. The development and acquisition of instructional programming by the TCLP will increase access to quality care using telehealth and innovative technology solutions. The TCLP will also provide training for health care providers and other professionals that provide or assist in the provision of services, including training on best practices for data collection and evaluation activities to study the impact on patient outcomes and health care providers.

According to the funder, projects should "explore and/or evaluate new outside-the-box ideas, bring together approaches from several diverse fields, and engage multi-disciplinary, cross-sector teams to reduce overdoses, increase access to treatment, and support long-term recovery." ​Rural Access to Anesthesia Care Scholarship

​The Rural Access to Anesthesia Care Scholarship provides stipend scholarships for medical students to complete a rural rotation designed to teach future physicians about anesthesia in rural areas. Applicants will work with a mentor at a designated rural site.
Applicants must be third or fourth year medical students in an approved U.S. program and a medical student member of the American Society of Anethesiologists (ASA).​
Health Center Facility Loan Guarantee Program

​The HRSA Health Center Facility Loan Guarantee Program facilitates access to capital funding and reduces financing costs for health centers by guaranteeing up to 80% of financing needed to support capital infrastructure projects. After approving a loan guarantee, HRSA monitors the loan repayment status and assesses the operational/financial viability of the health center during the life of the loan.

Funding may be used for the construction, expansion, alteration, renovation, and modernization of health center medical facilities.​
