Purpose
The Maryland Cancer Collaborative (MCC) is a state wide coalition of volunteers charged with implementing the Maryland Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan (Cancer Plan) to reduce the burden of cancer in the state.
Members choose priorities from the Cancer Plan, form workgroups around those priorities, and draft and implement action plans.

New! Maryland Cancer Screening Learning Collaborative
The Maryland Cancer Screening Learning Collaborative (CSLC) is a statewide workgroup that partners with community organizations, health professionals, and advocates to improve cancer screening awareness and participation across Maryland. Open to anyone with an interest or experience in cancer screening and outreach, the CSLC especially welcomes stakeholders focused on underserved and diverse populations. Learn more about the CSLC

Advance Care Planning Workgroup
Title: Advance Directives and MOLST: Accessible When It Matters Most
Description: A summary brief outlining how Maryland hospitals and health systems can enable HL7v2 data feeds to ensure advance directives and MOLST forms are accessible statewide through CRISP and A|D Vault Exchange.
The
Advance Care Planning Workgroup's priority strategies are:
- Partner with Maryland cancer support networks and coalitions to determine effective strategies to support advance care planning among cancer survivors.
- Educate health care providers on having culturally sensitive advance care planning discussions with all newly diagnosed Marylanders with cancer.
Cancer Screening Workgroup
Title: Colorectal Cancer Screening: The Best Test Is the One That Gets Done

HPV Vaccination Workgroup
Title: HPV Vaccine: Don't Miss Adults 27-25 - EHRs Now Flag Eligibility
Description: A one-pager provider resource describing the February 2025 CDC CDSi update that expands EHR alerts for HPV vaccination eligiblity through age 45, supporting ACIP-aligned shared decision-making.
The
HPV Vaccination Workgroup's priority strategies are:
- Educate health care providers, particularly pediatricians, on the importance of making a strong and timely HPV vaccination recommendation, with a focus on cancer prevention.
- Implement systems changes within health care practices to:
- Check teenage patients’ vaccination status and offer all indicated vaccines at each visit
- Schedule the next HPV vaccination dose before the end of the current appointment
- Utilize reminder and recall strategies
Tobacco Cessastion Workgroup
The
Tobacco Cessation Workgroup's priority strategies are:
- Educate vulnerable populations through health communications efforts and promote evidence-based tobacco cessation and treatment services.
- Work with health systems to expand utilization of evidence-based tobacco cessation and treatment methods, including inpatient tobacco treatment counseling, referrals to the Maryland Tobacco Quitline, and nicotine replacement therapy.
