Another academic year is here - and now is the time for parents to ensure your children are up-to-date on required vaccinations for their age and grade level.
For the 2025-2026 school year in Maryland, students need required vaccinations, proof of residency and other necessary documentation for school enrollment.
For those who are uninsured or under-insured, there are resources available below to ensure you have access to the vaccinations your child needs.
For enrollment in kindergarten through 6th grade, Maryland students need the recommended doses of the following age-appropriate vaccines:
- DTaP - diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough (pertussis)
- Polio
- MMR - measles, mumps, and rubella
- chickenpox (Varicella)
- Hepatitis B
Incoming 7th grade students will also need the following vaccines:
For more information on back-to-school vaccination requirements, please visit: Back-to-School Vaccine Requirements
If you need vaccination records for enrollment in school or extracurricular activities for your child, you can talk to your family health provider, visit your provider's patient portal, or order your records through Immunet. You can fill out a records request form, and your request will be processed as quickly as possible.
Contact your local health department for more information about vaccines or back-to-school clinics, below.
Vaccines keep your child safe.
Vaccinations are the best protection against severe illness and preventable disease for you, your family, and your community. They are safe and effective and can help infants and young children strengthen their immune system.
Most insurance covers recommended vaccines, including flu, COVID-19, and RSV immunization for those who are eligible. For those who are uninsured or underinsured, vaccination clinics are held throughout Maryland, with information posted on local health department websites listed below. You can also find a pharmacy near you at vaccines.gov.
Residents can also search for vaccine clinics near them using the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS) for Maryland. The system allows you to be pre-screened and, if qualified, schedule routine vaccinations, including COVID-19 and flu, with your local health department.
