PHOTO RELEASE: Maryland Department of Health provides free at-home tests and COVID resources at the Bags of Love community outreach event

Baltimore, MD – The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today conducted vaccine outreach and gave free at-home COVID-19 tests to more than 600 families in need across Maryland as a sponsor of the annual Bolsas de Amor (Bags of Love) community outreach event.

More than 200 volunteers gathered today to pack boxes of food and health resources.

The boxes will be distributed throughout Maryland in the upcoming weeks to families in need. Community partners and organizers of the event include El Tiempo Latino, Telemundo, Somos Baltimore Latino, el Zol and EMD Sales.

Dr. Mark Martin (pictured left), acting director of the MDH Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities, joined organizers at the packing event today to help distribute at-home tests and important literature about the importance of testing, treating, vaccination, and booster shots.

MDH volunteers packed every box with GoVAX information and at-home COVID test kits.

The clinic is part of an ongoing MDH initiative to bring important COVID-19 information and resources directly into communities across Maryland.
